| VOLCANIC ASH COSTS NACL DEARLY |
|
National airports corporation limited (NACL) lost about USD 13,000 during the cancellation of Europe bound flights due to volcanic ash.
British Airways which has three flights into Lusaka from London on Monday, Thursday and Saturday suspended its flights due to the volcanic ash between 15 and 20th April this year. The corporation has however not yet ascertained the loss arising from uncollected passenger service charge in view of passengers who may have simply decided to cancel trips having already missed appointments or just decided that the risk of getting stranded somewhere is not worth taking should the ban resume. During the disruption of flights, other airlines were not allowing NACL to check- in passengers who were connecting to Europe. |
