NATIONAL AIPORTS DONATES TO KUOMBOKA
National Airports Corporation Limited (NACL) donated five million kwacha worth of t-shirts to the Kuomboka Kufuluhela Lusaka fundraising committee, for the annual ceremony which took place in Mongu, western Zambia, recently.

Presenting the 80 t-shirts to the committee in Lusaka NACL Public Relations Manager, Mr. Geoffrey Chipolyonga said the corporation felt duty bound to donate to Kuomboka as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Mr. Chipolyonga said traditional ceremonies were an important platform for Zambia to market its rich cultural heritage. He observed that the increasing number of tourists in the country was partly due to traditional ceremonies such as the Kuomboka ceremony.

Mr. Chipolyonga explained that NACL spends about K30 million every year to support various cultural ceremonies throughout the country.

Receiving the t-shirts, vice chairman of the Kuomboka-Kufuluhela Lusaka fundraising committee, Irene Muyenga disclosed that her committee had raised its targeted k500 million budget for the ceremony.

She assured all institutions and individuals who supported the committee that all funds raised and materials received would be put to good use.

She thanked NACl for the t-shirts which said will be used by   various workers of the Barotse Royal Establishment during the ceremony.

She also announced that this year’s ceremony would be colourful as a number of new developments at Nayuma such as new curio market, improved seating arrangement, sanitation had taken place.

She however bemoaned the high accommodation charges during the ceremony and promised to engage the hospitality industry to be more accommodating during future ceremonies.
