LIVINGSTONE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO UNDERGO FACELIFT

Livingstone International Airport, being the vein under which the pulse of tourist flow arrives and streams into the heart of the Mighty Victoria falls will soon be undergoing a major uplift whose focal point is on the building of a new international airport terminal.

National Airports Corporation Limited (NACL) will spend USD 7 million on the project. This will be at the back of the works that were carried out in 2007 that included the extension of the runway from to 3 km; upgrading of runway lighting system, replacement of back up power and other ancillary civil works. A phased approach is being undertaken on the latest works to include construction of a new international terminal concourse, administration wing and departure lounge with all the core commercial areas. It is expected that, with the increased terminal building capacity, more space and amenities will become available to the public in a much more relaxed and ambient environment. The passenger experience will be enhanced with the inclusion of new concession areas including restaurants. This project is expected to take about 18 months and will not entail any disruption to airport operations as the current terminal will be fully operational to ensure that our valued passengers have an interrupted access to the city hosting one of the Seven Wonders of the World and other wonderful experiences that Livingstone has to offer.
