Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network

There is a message  switch  equipment  at  Lusaka  International  Airport , which  is  connected  to  the  Southern region center  in  Johannesburg. Ndola, Livingstone   and  Mfuwe  are  sub-AFTN  centers   connected  to  Lusaka. Provincial  airports  of   Chipata,  Kasama, Mansa,  Mongu  and  Solwezi  are  also  connected   to  the  AFTN  network on both voice and data circuits.

However, it is still the responsibility of the pilot-in-command of a flight once the application for the flight clearance (click here to apply) is approved, to familiarize him/her self with the airspace in which they will be flying in accordance with ICAO and national regulations.
In line with the corporation’s mission statement which reads in part “….to meet the stockholders’ requirements …” flight briefing (Click here) as part of flight preparations can now be done conveniently from your home/hotel room.
Some  limited  AIS  is  provided  at  provincial  airports  of   Chipata, Kasama,  Mansa ,  Mongu  and  Solwezi.

  • This information concerns the airspace infrastructure, the navigation and communication facilities, the procedures and airports available to support international air navigation. This information is processed, formatted and dispatched by AIS as an integrated aeronautical information package in accordance with the SARP (standards and recommended practices) of Annex 15 to the Chicago convention on International Civil Aviation and national regulations.
