A new duty free shop has opened at Lusaka International Airport bringing to five the number of shops operational at present. A new duty free shop has opened at Lusaka International Airport bringing to five the number of shops operational at present. And government has challenged foreign investors to take advantage of favourable investment policies and the existing good legal framework to set up businesses in Zambia. The new duty free shop called Flemingo was officially opened by Communications and Transport Minister, Professor Geoffrey Lungwangwa on 18th September this year. It is one of the three newly planned duty free shops at Lusaka International Airport. Commissioning the shop, Prof Lungwangwa said Zambia was a liberalised economy and as such, it was open to foreign investment. “In this regard, I wish to assure you that your investment in Zambia will be secured by the favourable investment policies and legal framework which my government has put in place,” he told the new investors. He told Flemingo International Zambia that their decision to open outlets in Zambia was a clear indication of the confidence the company had in the Zambian economy He noted that the new duty free shop would create employment for Zambians as well as sell world class products to many travelers, diplomats and tourists. He urged the new investor to consider stocking their shops world wide with quality Zambian products. Earlier, Flemingo International Project Manager, Mr Manu Bansal told the audience that his company operated 65 duty free outlets across 12 countries of which 9 of them were in Africa.
