Kenya Airways has began direct flights from Nairobi to Ndola International Airport in addition to the airline’s daily flights to Lusaka while Air Namibia has also introduced direct flights from Lusaka to Windhoek in partnership with Zambezi Airlines. The two airlines have since been joined by 1Time Airlines of South Africa which has started operating the Johannesburg Livingstone route.

The two airlines have since been joined by 1Time Airlines of South Africa which has started operating the Johannesburg Livingstone route.
Kenya Airways launched their maiden flight into Ndola on 18th September this year at a colourful ceremony officiated by Communications and Transport Minister, Geoffrey Lungwangwa.
Air Namibia flew into Lusaka via Johannesburg on 1st November and will operate three flights in a week while Kenya Airways operates two flights into Ndola weekly. 1 Time airlines on the hand made its maiden flight into Livingstone on 19th November 2009 with pledge to fly into the tourist capital four times in a week initially.
And officiating during the launch of the Air Namibia/ Zambezi Airlines route, Communications and Transport Permanent Secretary, Mr Dominic Sichinga SC said the initiative by the two airlines to open the Lusaka Windhoek route was a great milestone that was strengthening air transport services and infrastructure and logistics in the region.
He noted that the opening of the route was a realization of some of the good intentions of the two governments by the creation of an enabling environment
Zambia and Namibia a both signatories to the Yamousssoukro Declaration which includes the operation of flights using the 5th freedom traffic rights for flights between Namibia and Zambia with South Africa as an intermediate point.
At the same function, National Airports Corporation (NACL) Managing Director, Mr Robinson Misitala disclosed that the coming of Air Namibia had increased the number of flights from Lusaka to regional airports had increased to 71 per week.
On the domestic route, there have been increased frequencies from Lusaka to Ndola, Livingstone and Mfuwe. The Corporation will continue to entice air operators to fly on the intercontinental routes.
